====== Guristas Hunt Event 2021 ======

This is apparently an annual event.  I was born just after the 2020 event concluded, so this was a first for me.  What a rush!  There are two ways to make isk and, well, have fun and hone your skills in this event - combat and exploration.

I lost three ships to the combat anomalies before I watched a couple of YouTube videos and got sample fits.  The one I used successfully for every single combat site after that was a slightly modified version of the one used in this video.

Notice the fit has no prop mod.  I didn't miss it.  Yes, you'll end up slow boating from time to time, but to have a cheap, reliable ship to run these sites is worth it to me.  Be sure to carry spare drones and watch them carefully.  Use your guns when close up.  Other than that, you'll do fine with this fit.  You'll regularly have your shields at 0%, but the armor repairer does nicely to keep you in business.  Use the statis webifier generously.  The bad guys move around quickly.

===== Pre-Requisites =====

Only frigates and destroyers can enter these sites. I happened to use an Astero for the exploration sites, and an Algos for the combat sites.  Further, to enter the exploration sites at all, and to enter the second room in combat sites where all the loot is, you must have an acceleration gate key in your cargo.

Getting a gate key requires using dscan to find a "mysterious (teal, green, pink, red, etc) capsule", destroying it, and looting it.  They appear randomly in all space, including wormholes.  Once located, be quick to pounce and destroy it.  Occasionally, the darn thing will actually warp off on you!

This event was the first time I had to use dscan to actually find something in space.  The steps are straightforward but take practice.  Find one on dscan, reduce your dscan range in steps to get the smallest range that keeps it on your scope, then decrease the scan angle to pinpoint it.  The objects still within scan range show up in bright green, which is a big help.  To change what direction your scanner is pointed, hold down the v key while clicking an object in dscan.


===== Exploration Sites =====

The exploration sites must all be scanned down.  They are cosmic signatures.  They are all data sites with a scanning difficulty of 3.  They are all named //Guristas Secure Storage//.  You will find an acceleration gate when you warp to the site.  To activate the gate and get to the cans you must have an acceleration gate key in your cargo hold.  Each of the sites has six cans.  The loot from a site appears to be similar across all areas of space (hisec, losec, null, and wormhole space), so hunt where you feel most comfortable.


===== Combat Sites =====

Combat sites are all combat anomalies, all named //Guristas Hunt Outpost//, and are visible in your probe scanner and do not need to be scanned down.  Be aware that the competition for these can be vicious.  The big loot with the last fight can be stolen by someone else coming into the site!

Each of these sites consists of two rooms.  You can only enter with a frigate or destroyer.  While you can enter the first room without an acceleration gate key in your cargo hold, there's not much of a point in doing so.  The loot is all to be had from the last, single ship in the second room.
To begin, warp to the site at 0.  Go thru the acceleration gate.  You will have to beat down three or four waves.  If you're flying a drone boat, keep close eyes on their health, as they'll take a lot of aggression.

When you've beat the last of the bad guys, an acceleration gate will be active.  So activate it and go thru.  Going thru the gate will consume one acceleration gate key.  I hope you have one in your cargo hold!  No key, no access.

There will be one powerful frigate in this room.  Destroy and loot it.  I've had loot values range from a low of 6-10 to 95, 150, 271 and even 331 million isk.  Mind you, that big 331 million score was in hisec!  Do not assume that riskier space will bring higher rewards.  That does not appear to be the case at all.  A fair amount of loot is in the form of skins, which may or may not be worth anywhere near the estimated value.
