General Abyssal Tips
Room types
Notes
You can solo using a frigate, but it requires 3x filament and has more loot than doing 1x filament with a cruiser.
In the first room you are invulnerable for 1 minute and in the other rooms 15 seconds. The enemies will not attack until then. Use that time to examine the pylons, clouds, caches, and enemies.
Gates will not open until all enemies are dead.
Extraction nodes are optional. Sometimes they have no loot.
Biocombinative Cache always has loot and is the most important container.
A Mobile Tractor Unit (MTU) can be used to pull the extraction node loot for you.
If you go out of bounds you will die. An orange barrier appears if you get close.
Use “C” shortcut to Track objects and look at them to find them easier.
Tips for just starting out
Start with T0, run lots of them until you are familiar with all the enemies. There are not many varieties in T0. A tech 1 cruiser is good. There are community fits built-in to the fitting window. Search for “abyss”
Don't move up to the next tier until you have learned all the enemy types that spawn in that tier. Refer to
Possible Abyss Rooms. Be patient and don't rush to the next tier.
-
Learn the resists your ship has, the resists the enemies have, factoring in the weather. Also learn the damage types enemies do. This way you can prioritize which enemies to kill based on your weakest resists.
Don't start with frigates and then try to move to cruisers. Frigates past T0 will require deep understanding of enemies and how to pilot against them and have a higher chance for loss if you make a mistake. Cruisers allow more room for mistake, and if you stick with cruisers the tactics will remain the same and you won't have to relearn everything as you move up.
Tips for doing runs
Immediately check for towers and decide if you need to avoid to utilize any
Immediately check for clouds and identify any you should avoid
Immediately check the location of the extraction nodes. Decide if you want to skip them or get them and plan the best route. Sometimes you can go straight for the node, and kill enemies on your way if they come to you. In some cases, the enemies will kite you and you may need to chase them down first and then judge how much time you have left in the room.
Destroy the Extraction Nodes from a distance because sometimes they're empty and you can skip them.
Watch out for physical barriers and if be aware if containers are on the far side of an object.
